Essentially what these guys are, anytime you take it out your packaging, if you want to lay it out on your garage floor or your driveway, definitely doing it ahead of time of being on the side of a road, you want to be mindful as far as the direction of the links. And what I like to do is, when I lay it out in general, I'll take a look at how it connects. 'Cause with this particular chain, you're gonna actually have to lay on your belly to make that connection, unless you have really long arms. I mean like, LeBron arms. more

Now, this is gonna be on our tire size 255/50-R20 on our front axle. And let me just put out there, this is very limited clearance. As per the manual recommends, it doesn't actually recommend any tire chains, but if you live in a state that requires tire chains, you're gonna need something. Now this kit in particular is really nice because it has the self-centering, self-tightening system on it. So once you set it up, there's no having to go back outside to re-adjust after driving your vehicle. It's simple, you just set it up, and it'll do all the work to cinch it up for a perfect fit on your tire. There's a lot of different types of tire chains on the market, and finding out which one might be best for you can be tough. This one is a D-link style, which has a 90 degree kind of corner on each edge, which is really gonna allow you to bite into the snow or ice when you need that traction. more

So what we have here is a relatively unique tire chain. They are going to be made of the same materials as most, just a manganese nickel alloy steel construction, and we are going to have a diamond pattern. And we have cross chains connecting those, so it's going to be great on the front wheels here to give us really good turning and traction. Colin: Hey guys, it's Colin here at etrailer And today we had a 2014 Volkswagen Passat. So we're going to go ahead and do a test fit of these Titan Chain Diagonal Cable Snow Tire Chains. Now the tire size on our Passat today is 235, 45, R-16. Now you do want to check the tire size on your Passat and make sure that these chains will fit. If you don't know where to find that it's on the sidewall of your tire, just look around the entire perimeter of it. You'll see three numbers, which is a 235, a slash, and then two more numbers, which is the 45 of this tire, and then an R and then two more numbers that we're just R-16 on this tire.Now having a set of cable chains is actually a pretty good idea for if you live in an area where during those winter months, you may get a couple of snow or ice falls a year. more

Today on our 2013 Volkswagen Jetta we're gonna be doing a test fit on the Konig Standard Snow Tire Chains, part number TH01221090. The tires I'll be working with today is 205-55r16. What I really like about these chains, is that they're very quick and easy to install, and they also have a self-tensioning system right in here. We're not gonna have to purchase any other rubber adjusters or tensioners to make our chain stay snug against our tire, this system makes sure that it's tight. These chains have a diamond pattern, which is gonna give you more coverage around your tire, when compared to a ladder pattern. Speaker 1: Today on our 2014 Volkswagen Passat, we're going to be test fitting the Glacier alloy square-link snow-tire chains, part number PWPLC1138. The tire size we're going to be working with, is 215/55R17.The chain is made up of case-hardened square links, which is going to make it really good for grip and traction while you're driving in the snow. The square-link design is going to be good for digging into the snow, and give you better grip during travel. The ladder-pattern design is really good for starts and stops while you're traveling.The first thing you want to do when installing these is get them out of the container, and lay them out flat, like this, and try to make sure there's no breaks in the chains, no tangles, or anything of that nature. Make sure it's straight and ready for installation.The last thing you want to do before we install these is make sure that this hook is on the outside, so that when you cover your tires with the chain, it's going to be on the outside of your tire when you hook the chains together.So, first we're going to grab from the middle of the tire chains. Today on the 2015 Volkswagen Passat, we're going to show you the Glacier Cable Snow Tire Chains, Part Number PW1038. Now for reference, we're working with a tire size today of 215 by 55 by R17. A couple of details about our snow chains is that it's actually constructed from an all 00:00:21 cable. They're actually very low profile on the tire, so it's good for vehicles with a limited clearance between the tire and the fender well and maybe the suspension components as well. Construction of the cable is a case hardened, low carbon steel, and the spring rollers are wrapped around sturdy wire cross-cables as well and they'll move around and dig as needed in the snow. The idea behind these guys is that it's great to get you out of a jam. If you're out on the highway somewhere and the snow piles up and it's getting harder to get around, it's a good idea to put these on until you get to a better section of highway. more

Man: Today on our 2013 Volkswagen Jetta we will be test fitting the Glacier Cable Snow Tire Chain, part number PW 1034. Our Jetta has tire size 205/5516 and with it being front wheel drive, we will be installing the tire chains on the front tires. To begin our install, we will lay the chain flat out on the ground to undue any kinks or tangles. This will ensure that the tire chain will fit correctly around our tire. We will now place the tire chain over our tire, making sure that the hooks are facing outward so we do not damage our side walls. We will then move to the inside of the tire connecting the two ends and securing the excess cable with the link. On the outside of the tire we'll again connect the two ends and secure the excess cable with the link. We have an allowance of plus or minus one link per the manufacturer to ensure we get a proper fit. more

To begin our test fit, well lay the chains flat on the ground, undoing any kinks or tangles. Well now drape the tire chains over the tires, being sure theyre centered and that our hooks are facing outward so we dont damage the sidewall of our tire. Well begin on the inside by connecting the two ends of the cable. Well now move to the outside of the tire, fit our two ends together and secure the excess cable with the red S-hook. more

To begin our test fit, we will lay the chains flat on the ground, undealing any tangles that we might have in our chains. This will ensure proper fit around our tire. We will now drape the tire chains over our wheel making sure that it is centered and that the hooks are facing outwards so we don't damage the outer wall of our tire. At the inside of the tire, we will connect the hook and link. We will then move to the outside of the tire where we will insert the link on to the chain tensioner and hook it with the other link. The manufacturer does recommend that cable tensioner part number PW99. more

Glacier Square-Link Snow Tire Chains Review - 2013 Volkswagen Passat- Video
Today on our on our 2013 Volkswagen Passat, we'll be installing the Glacier square link snow tire chains, part number PWPLC1134. We'll first lay out our tire chains to remove any kinks or tangles. We can then drape the tire chain over our tire, making sure the hooks on the tire chain are facing out. With our chain centered on the tire, we can now move to the inside of the tire, where we can connect the hook and link. Back on the outside of the tire, we will insert the link into the chain tensioner, closing it, and hooking it to the other link. Now the manufacturer does recommend a chain tensioning device, part number PW99, which we will install in a pentagonal shape to snug our chains to our tire. more

We'll move to the inside of the tire where we will connect the male and female end of the chains and secure the excess cable with the hook. We'll then move to the outside of the tire where we will again connect the male and female end of the tire chain and securing the excess slack if necessary with the clip. more
